Make your own pergola
Springs are probably the most wonderful of seasons. It is the highlight of nature’s artworks all in full bloom. But your garden should not merely be a backyard space void of life after this season. Summers, winters and autumns also deserve their own special place in your heart. What better way to enjoy the changing of every season than to make your own pergola? This is an uncomplicated project that will allow you to have just enough shade to still benefit from the wonderful view! It’s a DIY task that is truly worth doing! Here’s how…
First of all, you need to look for the right material. A lot of people vote for lumber as the best bet but you may also have the liberty of choosing metal or vinyl. Lumber should at least be pressure treated and chemical-treated to survive the wrath of the seasons and the termite threats. Pine is one very luxurious option. But I don’t really recommend it to everyone, most especially if your budget is a bit limited. Why don’t you buy redwood or cedar instead? It lends the same rustic appeal without the guilt of an empty wallet for that matter!
When you make your own pergola, think about longevity. You do want a pergola that can survive as many winters as possible right? So don’t scrimp on the materials if you truly want your garden ornament to last. Metal pergolas are highly ideal if you’re going to make one that’s considerably smaller in size. Vinyl is a viable option and would look really great when done in bright white. It adds a pretty contrast to all the other colors in the garden.
Make your own pergola, one that simply suits your personality. When it’s done, you will have yourself to thank too! Won’t that be great?
